In The City: Part II - Trend Spotting

Like you would when your in a theater of 500 stylish teens from around the world, I had my eyes peeled for some of the biggest trends to share with you! I have to say that the wide brim floppy felt hat took the cake!
Nordstrom has such a cute selection...

I spotted them worn with anything from jeans and a cute shirt to vintage dresses!
How do you wear your wide-brimmed hat?

In The City: PART I

Hi everyone! I must apologize for being MIA for so long, but I've returned with tales from the Big Apple too! I got to go to my second year of Teen Vogue Fashion University, and am hoping to share with you some style posts as well as what I've learned from the likes of Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Betsey Johnson, and Jason Wu!
Let's start with some what-I-wore!
Before packing I fashioned myself up an inspiration board, and after being convinced that all I needed was a sequined skirt, I went on to pack for my trip with these stylish gals in mind...

With that, here is what I wore on the first day in the city!

This trip was just me and my dad, so we decided to go "museum-hopping" for our only open day. We visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art (pictured) and The American Museum of Natural History. I had an event for Fashion U and a broadway show to see later that night, so I wanted something versatile that could switch to night quickly in our time crunch! I wore my polka-dot dress with the scarf-turban, comfy boots, and a warm coat!

...and here is the look transitioned to the evening! There was a shopping event at H&M for all the Fashion U students (first impressions!) then we set off to Times Square and to see the broadway show Anything Goes (so so cute, ps!). I glammed up my polka-dot dress with a jumble of jewels, a metallic belt, and black bootie-heels.
Now on to the main event, Fashion University! Taking hints from my inspiration board, I wanted to look a little scholarly, a little glam, and extra comfy for a long day of classes. I wore a vintage sweater with a vintage beaded necklace-collar, a black skirt with a carmel-colored ribbon around the waist, and "fatforms" (if you will) with sheer black socks with a little gold glimmer! A ponytail and (faux) frames finished it off!

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of my 2nd day of University's outfit (a white slightly morroccan linen dress with subtly striped tights and Jeffrey Campbell booties, from none other than Nordstrom), but here are some other outfits I wore on the trip. Pictured on the left is what I wore to dinner the first evening of our arrival (striped tee, floral skirt, boots) and the second is what I wore on our last day in the city while perusing the Museum of Modern Art (slouchy sweater, skinnies, TOMS, and an aztec-print sweater)!
Coming up next... Michael, Alex, Betsey, and Jason!

Nailed It

I love all the fancy nail art that's been popping up around the web as of late. Though I don't have particularly excellent left hand coordination to do a very good personal manicure, I'd love to give these mini works of art a try this fall!

Chanel Beneath the Sea

There's lots to love about Chanels 83 (eighty three!) piece Spring/Summer 2012 collection. So much so that I'll just have to point out a few favorite highlights, and then leave you to watch the entire show here.
#1: The location.
The Grand Palais is breathtaking in and of itself, but transformed into frosted white marine-scape...

#2: The pearls.
I was dying over all the pearls happening in that collection. Belts, jewelry, blouses, and lined up along spines...

#3: Florence.
In case you were wondering, Florence Welch (of Florence + The Machine) may or may not make an appearance. From a clamshell.

It's really worth just watching the whole thing.

Here are some of my favorite looks...
