Charming Return

Hello you!!
I'm back from camp, I've had enough gingham shorts and swimsuit cover ups for the time being, and am ready to share a wonderful Resort collection that I stumbled upon!
This collection from Acne is a perfect dose of whimsy and out-of-the-box inspiration to jump start my post-camp summer mentality.
I love how they styled pieces that aren't supposed to go together. Like dresses and slacks. I don't know how applicable it is, but it sure is inspiring! Take a look...

...And I love the glasses and hair.
Boy am I glad to be back.

retro revisited

A long long time ago, in this post, I was talking about my favorite designer pieces and mentioned that I had a vintage dress that closely resembled this Missoni dress....

Well, I finally got around to taking pictures of it and figured I should share it with you!

It's green and orange and knit in all of it's '70's glory, just like I told you way back then!
I wish I could figure out how to hem the bottom a little shorter, but I don't want to ruin it, so for now it stays.
What is your favorite vintage find?

Erdem, Je t'aime.

When I saw this Erdem Resort 2011 Collection, I had to share! I'm dying over that blue backdrop and those rich reds ad navys. Take a look...

The colors in this collection and look book are purely breathtaking, wouldn't you say?
My all time favorite is probably all the navy blue lace but I love the red pants & floral blouse combo too.

Cinematic Inspiration: How To Steal A Million

Though not one of her most well known films, How To Steal A Million is one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies, and all-time favorite over all!

It's a cute little comedy "about a woman who must steal a statue from a Paris museum to help conceal her father's art forgeries, and the man who helps her." Along with being charming in every way, the costumes are the epitome of chic '60's mod... How couldn't it be, Givenchy did all of Audrey's costuming!

Get Audrey's Givenchy style...

Cinematic Inspiration: Marie Antoinette

Sometimes the best fashion inspiration comes from the creative genius's behind the costume and set design of our favorite films. Most of the movies I watch over and over are purely for the visual delight of it all! I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite movies when it comes to costuming and set design, that I always walk away from feeling freshly inspired! The first...Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette

This movies is a little confection of 18th century delight. The dresses are gorgeous, and manage to avoid looking movie-costumey like most period films, and instead very natural, like you'd imagine it would be like to actually live back then.

Kirsten Dunst is constantly dolled up in the most beautiful combinations, from hot pink feathers to black tulle and blue silk. Not to mention the fact that they filmed the movie in Versailles, Marie Antoinette's actual palace.

I also love the pairing of 18th century settings and costumes with an 80's new wave soundtrack! Pure genius, if you ask me!

Prada Brought Us Pretty

While thinking about a fall wardrobe is the last thing I want to do at this point, I couldn't pass by Prada's Fall 2011 collection without sharing!
I die over all those lovely mermaid-scale dresses! Especially after having just seen Pirates of The Caribbean (those mermaids weren't so lovely though...). These dresses look perfectly at home in June, too.
Aren't those python-socked mary jane boots are amazing?
And I can't pass up these sweet rows of buttons...

I love how they spruced up classic feminine elements like pea coats, furs, and minis with punchy colors, altered fits, and minimal but fresh makeup and hair! All in all, it's quite the collection! The more I look at it the more I fall in love! XO Rosie
