Furs, Pearls, Flappers, oh my!

As we all know, vintage is one of the biggest style trends we've seen this year. However, there are so many ways to do 'vintage' it's hard to choose sometimes! Stay tuned! This week we'll look how to translate your favorite vintage era into the perfect looks for this holiday season!
First, we'll kick things off with the 1920's!
There is so much I love about the twenties it's hard to know what to focus on! Everything was so relaxed and cool, but still oh so glamorous. For your own twenties inspired looks remember to keep fits boxy and loose, with drop waists and long necklaces!
For a '20's inspired day look that still keeps you warm from the winter's chill...

This Nordstrom Wool Felt Cloche looks perfect paired with the Frenchi Dropped Waist Dress, which is a perfect interpretation of the casual knits that became so popular in sportswear in that era! Finish the look with some art-deco tights, and long drippy necklaces! These DKNY Hosiery Lace Net Tights, are just the thing! And don't forget a chic little pea coat like this Frenchi A-Line Peacoat!
and now for a perfect evening look for all your parties and events!

The must have perfect pairing of glamour and function, a fur chubbie! Start with this Jolt 'Cozy' Jacket, and a chic lace shift dress like this Fire Lace Overlay Dress! Layers and layers of long pearls are perfect accessory for channeling a flapper! With black tights and a perfect mary-jane (Jessica Simpson's 'Cheetah' Pump, is a fun modernized version!) all you need is a chic little headband, and your look is complete!
Up Next: the 1950's!

What I Wore Today

Happy Friday!
I don't know about you, but I for one, am beside myself over Harry Potter.
I'm going tonight and simply can't wait!
(the sticker, in commemoration of my adoration of Harry Potter, reads "Send Me an Owl." My pen-pal sent it to me!)
Besides all the Harry Potter hype, this is what I wore today. A smart mix of autumn plaid with summery pink florals transitions a breezy summer dress into the new season! Paired with black tights, rainboots, and vintage belt! Topped off with a (really) messy bun! A perfect fall look for a Friday.
What I wore today...
dress : Lush
rainboots : Kamik
How do you transition your summer favorites into autumn-worthy looks?
I hope you all have a magical weekend!

Let Me Per-suede You.

While trends are usually quickly spotted, it's harder to pinpoint just what textures are in vogue... Now introducing Texture Week! First on the list, s u e d e. No longer reserved for Elvis's blue shoes, suede is being seen on everything from leggings, to dresses! (And of course, is still standing as a perfect material for footwear.) Here are some of my favorite pieces to get into the 'suede' of things...!
A suede stripe...

A suede strap...

Suede sleeves...

Or suede sleeveless!

But nothing can beat, suede shoes.

Also spotted around style circles... suede shorts, iPad covers, and about everything in between!
Stay tuned for the next installation of Texture Week, due to arrive Friday!

Encore!

Surprise!

I've been so fortunate as to be able to stay on the blogging team for another year! I'm so glad I get to stick around! I had so much fun reading all the other bloggers posts last year and can't wait to get to know the new bloggers!
For those who are new readers here is a little bit about me...
My name is Rosie, and I'm a junior in high school. I attend Fashion Board in Murray, Utah
(hooray for Fashion Place!)
For fun, here are a few of my favorite things....

number 1: this is a picture from one of my favorite Vogue shoots with Natalia Vodianova (one of my favorite models) and her family. It was so sweet and the styling was so pretty! Definitely an inspiration!
number 2: on my recent trip to New York, I bought a few too many vintage badges and insignia... but I really loved too many to choose, so I just got pretty much all of them. :)
number 3: this is a picture from one of my favorite Teen Vogue shoots. It has such darling and classic back-to-school looks, I always go back to it for inspiration for fall!
number 4: these are the most beautiful glasses I've ever seen. They are Chloe, I posted about them before here, and am still in love with them. If only I had $200 to spend on sunglasses!
number 5: this is one of my favorite things I've ever owned, my She & Him vinyl record. In fact, I'm listening to it right this second. Zooey Deschanel is definitely one of my style icons!
number 6: here is a self-portrait taken at the same place that I got all my insignia at in NYC, just emphasizing my love for vintage anything and everything, especially flowers, ribbons, badges, charms, and prom dresses!
number 7: this is just another one of my favorite images that I found recently of Emma Stone. It's not summer anymore, but the colors are so pretty! Perfection!
number eight: and this is just another one of my favorite Teen Vogue shoots. I love the western take, still glamorous and captures old hollywood western films so uniquely! Love it for sure.

Those are just a few of my favorite things as of late!
I can't wait to begin another year of blogging for the fabulous BP Fashion Board and Nordstrom!

PS: The pictures at top are what you can find me wearing pretty much everyday lately, messy high bun, olive green blazer, and red red lipstick! My 'uniform' this season!

Boxxy Beauties

I bought myself a pair of shoes!

note: deliciously chunky heel!

(PS: I'm also sporting these jeans!)

they just so happen to be these shoes:

I don't know why my mom even let me look at them with my eyes,

let alone try them on, let alone even consider buying them,

let alone let me spend my whole paycheck in one fell swoop!

Ooh, but I love them so, so it's alright with me!

I bought them pre-NYC trip and was debating all week long whether I should keep them and bring them with me! I finally decided to let them come along and am so glad I did! They are surprisingly comfy and were the perfect shoe to complete my 'graduation' outfit!

(here we are in Bryant Park!)

What shoe would you (or have you) splurged on!?

Feeling Free!

Bonjour again! It's been quite a while, I've just been away in New York City!
For my first time there, it was fabulous, and I got to attend a little event called Teen Vogue Fashion U! It was so much fun and I learned so much! More to come on that...
For now, I wanted to share how pleased I am with Free People this season! So many of their pieces are wonderful, and their November catalog (just arrived in the mail) is quite inspirational!
Here are some of my favorite pieces...

See more Free People here!
...and stay tuned for tales of The Big Apple!
