Gathered At The Thrift : The Perks of Being Thrifty!

It's become somewhat of a trend in and of itself, but more and more vintage pieces and thrift store finds are being spotted in street fashion, and fashion in general, almost as often as the latest designer collections! So, I'm here to share my recent thrift steals, and to give you some pointers on what to look for, and what to avoid, when searching the seas of second-life pieces.
Tip # 1 : 'Vintage' is anything 20 years and older. Meaning, 80's pieces are just beginning to be considered real 'vintage'. But more and more, 90's things are being accepted too. Just use your better judgement.
Find # 1: Hot Pink Skirt, ankle length. Handmade.

Tip # 2 : Take the time to look for quality items. Don't fall for 'pilly' sweaters, uneasily mended holes, or stains. Why pay even $3 for something that is a) kind of icky and b) on the verge of falling to ruin.
Find # 2 : Short Pink Skirt, most likely handmade.

Tip # 3 : Think outside the box! A long skirt can be shortened, jeans can be altered here and there, and an 'old lady' blazer or skirt can look new as can be if styled right!
Find # 3 : Plaid Skirt, ankle length.

(please ignore my face, i didn't know it would get in the photo.
and I'm still wearing my pants underneath. oops.)
Tip # 4 : While anything that is $10 can seem like a deal, sometimes it's not worth it. The most important part of being a successful thrifter- take the time to find the good stuff! It'll surface sooner or later!
Finds # 4 & 5 : Pencil Skirt, plaid and army green wool.

I hope this helped just a bit! Remember, the only key to pulling off anything is confidence! (And the best part about thrifted fashion is you know no one else will have the same thing!)
XO ROSIE
